Getting started
Try a lesson first
You can try the first lesson of Biology, Chemistry or Physics free, with no account. Nothing is saved, so it's just for a look.
Create your family account and add your children
- Create a family account with your own email and password. You are the parent on the account.
- From your account page, choose a plan, then add a student sign-in for each child. You choose their sign-in email or username and a password, and you can reset it any time.
- Your child signs in on their own device with their student sign-in and picks a course.
Which course should my child take?
- Grades 6–8: Life Science and Earth & Space Science.
- Grades 9–12: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, Earth Science & Geology, Forensic Science, Psychology & Neuroscience and Astronomy.
- Marine Biology works across K–12.
- Most courses run 50 weeks at two lessons a week, about one school year (Astronomy runs 42 weeks). Students can go faster or slower.
What's in a lesson
- An overview, a guest scientist from history telling their story (a clearly labelled, dramatized retelling), and readings.
- A short video, a hands-on activity using household materials, and extras such as printable flashcards.
- An exam. The student can retake it, but each retake lowers the highest possible score a little, and leaving part-way counts as an attempt. It ends with a written final question.
- Lessons open in order: finishing one opens the next.
How grading works
- Multiple-choice exams are scored automatically. You don't need to do anything.
- The written work, meaning each lesson's activity report and the exam's final question, is for you to read and grade out of 20. You'll see the exact question above your child's answer.
- Grade from your parent page (Parent Portal). Your grade and comment go straight back to your child's grades page.
- Waiting for your grade never holds a student back: the next lesson opens once they've passed the exam and sent in their written work, not when you grade it.
Families who use Xogos
If your child starts All Science Academy from the Xogos platform, they're signed in automatically. Each course appears as its own class on your Xogos Parent Portal, with scores and written work waiting there for you to grade, and your grades come back to your child here. Astronomy (StarFall) opens on its own site with the same sign-in.
